In terms of ad blocking features it is our strong belief that AdsCleaner goes in advance of all. It blocks banners both by black list and dimensions and blocks graphics loading from other domains. At the same time AdsCleaner enables the user to manage the black list and specify the dimensions for the graphics to be blocked. In addition, AdsCleaner shrinks the area previously occupied by blocked banners.
The runner-up is AdMuncher. An absolute advantage of this application, as compared to AdsCleaner, is the ability to block ads in any AIM on top of ICQ. A major disadvantage is that with AdsCleaner you cannot specify the dimensions of graphics to be blocked. AdsCleaner doesn't block graphics from other domains, and presents a less intuitive interface. Another noteworthy nuisance is the incorrectly calculated traffic it has saved: for some reason each blocked banner is estimated at 8 KB.
FilterGate ranks number three in our review. FilterGate loses to the other two applications by not providing access to the black list of ads generators, by a poorer quality of blocking banners and lower shrinking performance. Its only advantage is the adult filter that can however, be easily bypassed by a child with a basic knowledge of Windows.
All other applications come with a much poorer performance; therefore they are not included into the summary.
Concerning the features that are not directly related to ad blocking, we are convinced that AdsCleaner is far ahead of all other applications, mainly due to the ability to add comments to the pages you've visited, display hints to the links by hovering the cursor over them, display the list of domain links and many more features mentioned above.
As of this review AdsCleaner is undoubtfully in the lead among all applications intended to block ads in the Internet, far outclassing them all. In addition to ad blocking and online privacy features, AdsCleaner offers a wide variety of opportunities for you to surf the Internet with maximum pleasure.
